Welcome to the FM38 Repeater Group
The FM38 repeater group is a collection of UHF Amateur ("Ham") Repeater systems in the state of Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. This is a privately owned system but available for use by any Amateur Radio operator. Currently there are 20 repeaters in the network providing coverage from Chicago IL to Sturgeon Bay WI and West to La Crosse, Chippewa Falls and beyond.
After many years of building out the FM38 network we have finally formalized things and created a nonprofit 501c3 organization. We have big plans to keep adding sites and improving the system but it takes a lot of effort and of course some $$. As we don't have a formal membership and dues structure we rely on our great volunteers to do the work and donate funds. As this is now a tax exempt organization your donations are tax deductible in addition to benefiting ham radio as a whole. We look forward to many more years of advancing the hobby and having fun while doing it. If you would like to donate, click the link to the right. Thank you!
See our FAQ section for more information along with a list of repeater frequencies and locations.

Hello Washington Island!!!
- 2026-09-16 21:43 - (10 Reads)We’re happy to announce FM38’s participation in “Islands on the Air” with the addition of the first island repeater in the FM38 system. Located on Washington Island, WI, which is located six miles off the Door County mainland, the new repeater is sponsored by the WI9DX Washington Island DX club on 440.300+ tone 123.0. This completes continuous UHF analog FM coverage along western Lake Michigan from South of Chicago to the tip of the Door County peninsula including Washington Island, and its 4 neighboring islands. With the ever-growing number of annual visitors to one of the Midwest’s most popular vacation destinations, the FM38 system should provide an added benefit for hams traveling to Door County. Come to Door County and activate all 5 islands on UHF! See our Facebook post here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19JKzCVS1i/

Merrill Amateur Radio Group
- 2026-08-26 18:59 - (172 Reads)Over the recent weekend the Merrill Amateur Radio Group https://www.margdx.club and FM38 joined forces to upgrade the antenna for the FM38 linked repeater hosted by the group. We also installed a new antenna side arm and 240' of Andrew 7/8" Heliax. Everything went smoothly thanks to the guys on the ground and in the air. If you live or drive in the area near Irma, Tomahawk, Rhinelander, etc. please give the repeater (444.575+ T114.8) a test and see how it works.
